Installation
Learn how to install the Rock Smith desktop application on your system.
The Windows desktop app is not available in this release. Windows support is coming soon. macOS and Linux builds are available now.
System Requirements
Rock Smith supports multiple platforms with specific hardware requirements for each:
- macOS (Apple Silicon) — Based on M1 MacBook Pro technical specifications
- macOS (Intel) — Based on the latest MacBook models with Intel processors
- Linux — Based on average specification laptops meeting platform framework requirements

Download the Desktop App
Visit https://rocksmith.ai/download to download Rock Smith for your platform.
The download page includes official SHA256 checksums for all releases. Always verify your download using these checksums before installation.
Windows installers are coming soon and will be added to the download page when available.
Verifying Downloads
Important: Always verify the integrity of downloaded files using SHA256 checksums before installation.
Windows
Windows build coming soon — checksum commands and verified hashes will be provided when the Windows installer is released.

Installing Rock Smith
Windows
Windows installer is not available in this release. Installation steps for Windows will be added here when available.
macOS
- Download
Rock Smith QA Platform.app.tar.gzfrom the download page - Verify the SHA256 checksum against the value provided on the download page (see Verifying Downloads)
- Move
Rock Smith QA Platform.appto your Applications folder - Launch Rock Smith from Applications

First Launch Setup
When you first launch Rock Smith, you'll be guided through a setup process:

Sign In or Create Account
- Sign in with your existing Rock Smith account
- Or create a new account with your email

Choose Your Plan
- Select a subscription plan or purchase pay-as-you-go credits
- See Managing Credits for pricing details

Connect to the Server
- If you see a banner titled "Not Connected to Server", click Connect to Server
- Ensure you are signed in and online; the status will change to Connected when successful
- If connection fails, try again or see Troubleshooting

Grant Browser Permissions
- Rock Smith needs permission to control your local browser for testing
- This ensures secure, local testing without data exposure

Optional: Set up Browser Profiles
- Prepare login sessions for authenticated sites using persistent profiles
- Create a profile, click Launch Browser, sign in to your site, then close the browser (do not log out)

Verify Installation
To verify Rock Smith is installed correctly:
- Open the Rock Smith desktop app
- Check that you can sign in successfully
- Navigate to Settings > About to confirm your version number
- Try running your first flow (see Quick Start)
Updating Rock Smith
Rock Smith automatically checks for updates and will notify you when a new version is available. To update:
- Click the notification when prompted
- Or go to Settings > Updates
- Click Download and Install
- Restart the application when the update completes
Troubleshooting Installation
Windows: "Windows protected your PC" warning
Note: The Windows desktop app is coming soon. This guidance applies once the Windows installer is available.
This is a SmartScreen warning that appears for new applications. Click More info > Run anyway to proceed with installation.
macOS: "Rock Smith can't be opened because it is from an unidentified developer"
- Right-click the Rock Smith app
- Select Open
- Click Open in the dialog that appears
Or disable Gatekeeper temporarily:
sudo spctl --master-disable
Linux: Missing dependencies for AppImage
If the AppImage fails to run due to missing dependencies, install the required libraries. Rock Smith requires both Tauri v2 runtime dependencies and Chrome for Testing dependencies (for browser automation).

Checksum Verification Failed
If the SHA256 checksum doesn't match the official value:
- Do not install the file - it may be corrupted or tampered with
- Delete the downloaded file
- Download again from the official download page and verify the checksum value
- Verify the checksum again
- If the problem persists, contact support
